Eligibility Criteria for Mauritius Student Visa

  • Non-citizens who are interested in pursuing full-time or part-time courses for obtaining certificates, diplomas, undergraduate or postgraduate degrees, or post-doctoral research from recognized tertiary educational institutions or Technical and Vocational Educational and Training (TVET) institutions in Mauritius.

  • Non-citizens can also participate in an exchange program with a recognized tertiary educational institution in Mauritius for one year or less.

Requirements for Mauritius Student Visa

To apply for a visa to Mauritius, you will need the following documents:

  • A valid passport

  • Passport-sized photo: Recently taken two passport-sized photographs

  • Application form: filled and signed by the applicant

  • Letter of admission or enrollment from Mauritius educational institution

  • Previous copy of the visa (if applicable)

  • Proof of funds: a bank statement for the last 6 months indicating financial capacity to meet living and study costs in Mauritius, letter of sponsorship from guardians, and copy of guardians ID.

  • A flight ticket: You must also provide proof of your flight itinerary or a document that confirms that you have already booked your flights.

  • A  travel itinerary

  • Proof of accommodation: proof of your accommodation, such as a hotel reservation, rental agreement, or letter of invitation, and a copy of the ID of a tenant.

  • A medical certificate

  • Fee payment receipt: You will need to provide a receipt for the payment of visa fees.

Student Visa Application Process

Apply for a visa at the embassy or consulate of Mauritius

If you wish to apply for a visa at the embassy or consulate of Mauritius, you need to take the following steps:

  • First, reach out to the nearest embassy or consulate of Mauritius in your home country and book an appointment for a visa.

  • Next, complete the Mauritius visa application form and ensure that you sign it at the end. Make sure you do not leave any empty spaces.

  • Hand over the documents to the embassy or consulate of Mauritius.

  • Complete the applicable visa fee payment and attach the receipt to your visa application. The Embassy of Mauritius will inform you of the amount of your visa application fee payment that you need to complete.

  • Wait until you receive a response from the embassy or consulate of Mauritius with the result of your visa application.

Online Application

Applicants who cannot apply for a Mauritius visa at the port of entry, embassy, or consulate of Mauritius can opt for an online visa application. However, they must contact the embassy of Mauritius through their official email address piovisa@govmu.org, and be informed about the application process and the required documents they must submit.
