Finland Study Visa Options

Finland student visa is valid for two years however, if your study program lasts less than two years it will be valid according to the duration of your study program. In case if program takes more than two years students can extend their student permit until the study program ends.

The documents required to be attached to the visa application include:

  • Completed application form
  • A valid passport and a recent passport photo
  • Proof of enrollment i.e., certificate of acceptance from a Finnish higher education institution
  • Proof of self-financial support with at least €560/month (€6,720/year) in your account covering everyday expenses during your studies.
  • Provide international student health insurance covering all kinds of medical emergencies and is valid during your stay in Finland.
  • Academic documents and certificates
  • Civil status documents such as birth certificates, marriage licenses, adoption papers, etc.
  • The attached documents should be in English, Finnish, or Swedish, if not you will also need their official translations.
  • Proof of application processing fee such as €450 for a paper application or €350 for an electronic residence permit, and €80 for a Schengen visa.
  • If you are a beneficiary of a scholarship then you need to provide a certificate proving the financial support of the scholarship.
  • The are no specific requirements for English language Proficiency for a student visa; however, certain departments in Finnish universities might ask for it.

  • You must not have criminal charges.
  • You must have no travel bans for the Schengen Area.
